Can a piece software be a terrorist organization? Retired sniper-assassin Leo Marston and hacker Jackie Winn both find out the hard way as they fight for their lives to stop it while holding off a group of highly trained, professional assassins.
This was a fun read - surprising because I don't normally read thrillers. There were minor editing issues, but damn - normally that sort of thing yanks me out of the story, and in this case, I stayed fully immersed, loving the details of assassination and the steps a savvy target might take in order to stay alive. This book has a cinematic feel, and I'd be first in line to see the movie.
Retired assassin-turned-coin-shop-owner Leo Marston lives a comfortable, quiet life. Unfortunately, someone wants him to come out of retirement, and now it's a case of kill or be killed.
Enter Jackie—a pretty software security geek and Leo's would-be target. He could kill her, but he'd rather use her as bait so he can figure out who's pulling his strings. That way, he can shut them down and—you guessed it—get his life back.
In this fast-paced roller coaster ride, Jackie and Leo team up to stop a nationwide conspiracy involving computer hacking, poisoned coffee, exploding buildings, snipers' bullets, convenient accidents, arson, and a whole lot of investigation. Collins provides just enough detail to keep your inner geek happy while never slowing the pace. Loved it.
