I really enjoyed how this book called back to cultures from long centuries passed. It was interesting to see the twists and turns - at first I found myself saying "how are these flashbacks going to tie in?" By the end of the book they dovetailed perfectly. Also, I really enjoy reading books by authors right here in my home town - that's always an extra bonus!
