In a far future, Earth had already been visited by an alien race called the Sominids, who came here for the express purpose of drinking and having sex with everyone they could. When one of their infamous parties resulted in the moon being cut in half and killing everyone who happened to live there, they quietly left. Their encounter with the Sominids had taught the human race many things, primarily that faster-than-light travel did not exist. Denied the stars, the human race began to dwindle in numbers and terminate all of their space programs. A thousand years later, a scientist named Edward Q. Rohta circumvented anti-AI laws, laws which had been on the books for millennia, by creating organic creatures to provide manual labor. Instead of dying after ten years, as promised in the company brochure, they would develop flu-like symptoms and go into hiding. Eventually, fed up with the mistreatment they suffered at the hands of humans, they rose up and killed every man, woman, and child on the planet. This is the story of what happens next. The Brittle Riders; Apocalypses are funny that way. A very unique tone and world, reminiscent of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY meets a MAGNIFICENT SEVEN/DIRTY DOZEN - type setup, but with a look, flavor, and lexicon all its own. In a world where studios and streamers are looking for IP that's expansive, both narratively and in terms of ancillary possibilities (prequels, offshoots, video games, etc.), (The Brittle Riders) certainly seems to offer up a number of possibilities. - Garrick Dion - Producer

Today, I have a showcase for a whole series for you - and what a great series it's panning out to be.
We received all 3 books to read through this campaign and I have to admit that I'm still working my way through book 3.
As you all know, this is not a genre that I gravitate towards too often as sometimes I can feel a little too bogged down by the detail and so find it harder to engross myself within the storyline. They are meant to be an epic read. But as I read a lot and often like to mood read, I struggled to get through all 3 of these in such quick succession - hence the stalling with book 3!
This is totally not to say that I'm not enjoying the series at all - in fact I've been really impressed so far with both the plot progression and the character development. This is clearly a really well written trilogy.
With books of this genre, there has to be a fair bit of world building and this is presented in book 1 for us. It did take me a while to get to grips with the world and to get used to the writing style and for me to really work out the cast of characters. However, it didn't take long after introductions for me to become invested.
Book one was a little slow going for me - but totally worth it as by the end, I was hooked and had to start book 2 straight away. By the end of book 2, I was left feeling tense and really had to know the conclusion - but some way into book 3, I just lost focus having been with the same genre for such a big chunk of my reading time and I had to take a break for a bit - but do not fear, I'll be finishing this off soon as I keep coming back to think about it.
I'll be posting some excerpts for each book for you today, so that you can get a flavour of just how great these are - if you're a keen dystopian/sci fi reader, then I totally would recommend these books to you.
I really enjoyed this series, it was well written with an engaging storyline and well developed characters. There was also a good level of world building in the books.
It took me a while to get into the books but when I did I was completely engrossed and as soon as I finished one I had to start another straight away. The start of book one felt a bit bogged down to begin with due to the backstory of what is happening in the world, but I would definitely recommend sticking with it because it explained a lot that was needed as the series continued.
This book took me through all the emotions, there were parts of the book that disturbed and horrified me, parts of the book had me laughing out lots and parts had me ugly crying.
I would definitely recommend reading this if you like sci-fi that has a good amount of backstory included.
The Brittle Riders, written by Bill McCormick, is a trilogy set in the world of Arreti. The author narrates the story of different brands called gen-O-pods, which are all human hybrids and omnivores created by Edward Q. Rohta. There was a powerful ruler who committed atrocities against his victims, such as releasing a virus that ate their flesh, which made their bones pliant. He considered expanding his empire, but he was aware of opposing powers who were plotting his downfall. Geldish, a Rangka and Astral warrior, plans to end Xhaknar's reign with the help of three other Rangka. They plan to ride together to overthrow Xhaknar. Did they succeed?
The author's writing style was skillful and fascinating. The characters are unique and believable, and the plot is engaging. You will want to keep reading the book to know the next action. To clarify the meaning of certain words used throughout the book, Bill in the appendices section compiled information about the various brands and terminologies used, which includes their genetic makeup and characteristics. I learned from the write-up about several tactics deployed by Geldish on his mission to dethrone Xhaknar, the tyrant ruler, which portrayed him as resolute and focused on his mission. Furthermore, I learned about a group of assassins named Din-La, who, though greedy, do not compromise their stand to achieve their aim.
I was intrigued by Edward Q. Rohta's creations, which employed advanced genetic science and technology to create human hybrids. These creatures assist men in carrying out various specific operations. This explains the level to which humans can go in scientific research. The Brittle Riders, together with Geldish, teach the power of teamwork as a strategy to overcome certain challenges. Further, though the Naradhama and the Mayanoren were loyal to Xhaknar, he couldn't protect them from attacks as most of them were overpowered. I also learned that the protagonist in the book is on his last mission before retiring and moving up to the rank of colonel. He plans to become a desk-bound warrior. The author compiled the book using a language that will be easily understood by readers who enjoy reading this genre of books.
The book was professionally edited; hence, no error was detected. I didn't find any aspect of the book I disliked while reading. Meanwhile, due to the engaging plot and careful editing of this novel, I rate the book five out of five stars.
Finally, I recommend this book to readers who love science fiction stories and mythology because the contents of the book will appeal to them more.
Set in the pages of "The Brittle Riders I," we are transported to the fascinating realm of "Arreti," a new world that emerges after the human era. This unique landscape teems with brands, artificial beings brought into existence by humans. The brands possess an extraordinary ability to sense the changing seasons: Dark Sun, Dim Sun, Full Sun, and Warm Sun, adding an intriguing layer to the narrative. Amidst a cascade of events, the once-familiar world transforms into an enigmatic realm unlike anything we've known.Navigating the book's outset proved somewhat daunting for me, particularly in the inaugural chapter's detailed exposition about the various brands. It's a part that might be deemed optional by certain readers seeking a smoother entry point. This sentiment prompts me to bestow a 4-star rating upon the book. An interesting thought also emerges—could this narrative find its perfect home as a captivating TV series, perhaps? The story itself garners a commendable 4.2 stars, thanks to its remarkable depth and intricacy. The premise, outlined in the blurb, propels us into a future where Earth encounters the Sominids, an alien race whose rowdy escapades yield dire consequences. This encounter irrevocably shapes humanity's destiny, reshaping society and technological advancements. The tale then unfolds, projecting us a millennium into the future, where a daring scientist challenges anti-AI laws with the creation of organic laborers. This daring twist plunges us into a world of ethical quandaries and consequences, contributing to the story's rich rating.
As for the writing style, it unfurls like an inviting tapestry, weaving a vivid and immersive experience. Nonetheless, the flow occasionally stumbles, warranting a 3.5-star rating in that regard. But where the narrative falters, it excels in creativity, earning an impressive 4.5-star rating. The potential for character development is palpable, even within the given data. Although not explicitly detailed, the hint at multi-dimensional characters, along with the intricate interplay of brands, beckons readers toward a captivating character journey.
In sum, "The Brittle Riders I" beckons us to a world both novel and alluring, while its narrative complexities and potential for character depth lay the foundation for a riveting read. With a touch of refinement in the flow, this tale could well be the 5-star gem it aspires to be.

I loved the experiments the author did and the risks he took with a new concept. The writing flowed beautifully, creating a cocoon, I didn't know when it ended. The ending was: GREAT! I am still reeling from this read and it's gonna stay with me for awhile.
First of all I would say this book is nothing like I have ever read before. This series intrigued me because I like Dystopian novels. This gave me Lord of the Ring vibes with how the ‘brands’ banded together against one enemy. There is a lot going on and it can get a little confusing at times but nothing is left unexplained. Great shout out to Bill McCormick to suggest reading the appendix first because it really does help understand the brands, places and terminology in the book, trust me you want to read it before you start and have it handy to refer back to as I did quite a few times. The characters you get invested into with the amount of detail that has been put into the book. Even the bad guys are intriguing and want to know about them. There is some mention of SA so be mindful of this. The Brittle Riders are just a crazy bunch of unlikely brands brought together but the story is about all the Brands coming together I felt. The brands are all different and very intriguing to read about. I was not sure how this would carry on let alone a Trilogy but it is perfectfully clear how and you will want to read to find out what happens. I am not going to spoil it for you. Gripping and captivating. Amazing story line and world building. It is crazy that the world that is described used to be the world that we live in now.

You're itching to figure out what's up with those Sominids and how things play out. And the twist with those rebel organic creatures? It's like a deep dive into AI ethics and all.
The writing style? Bold and sizzling, making this universe feel both weird and relatable. The vibe? Think "Guardians of the Galaxy" squad goals – it's that cool. The way the author paints this world with its own lingo and flair? Totally gets you in the zone.
This book's like sci-fi, but with its own epic spin. As a reader, you're in for a wild ride that's both imaginative and gripping. "The Brittle Riders: Book One" flips the script on familiar ideas, and trust me, you'll be itching for more of the world Bill McCormick's cooked up.

I can honestly say I’ve never read anything like this series. Set far in the future, like so many dystopian novels are, there are some parallels with the modern world. Each of the editions is very well written. As the story progresses through the series, as a reader you do get to know the characters and their foibles quite well. These are not serious books. Well, they’re a serious story, told in a humorous way. If you like sci -fi and/or dystopia stories then definitely check these books out.
