Vampire Metta Blautsauger is known as the family airhead and she works hard to keep up the façade. It’s the perfect cover as she goes from dispensing her own brand of justice as a vigilante to an agent for Orcus, the Nosferatu shadow agency.Captured, tortured, and left for dead, she is forced to leave both the agency and Lucas O’Cuinn, the mentor she’s grown to love. For the last century she’s struggled with regret and boredom. Then her life is given new meaning when four mortal ministers ask her help in stopping a human trafficking ring. If Orcus discovers her unsanctioned involvement, they will brand her as a rogue. The penalty is death. It’s only a matter of time before Lucas arrives—stake in hand.Lucas O’Cuinn has waited ninety-eight years for Metta’s return and he’s run out of patience. It’s time she remembers she belongs to him.
I am vampire and i seen a 5 year old being kidnapped as i was coming out the dry cleaner and i drop my clothes, I ran to the car and broke the window and then i damage the car I took the little guy out and then he said to beat him up i was thinking of killing him but i did some thing else i went and typed him up with the belt he had on and then kick the car in to the pole.
I had to memorize the people who seen the accident and then the little because i am a vampire and do not need any one see me or learn about it.My Trainer has been changed by her leg and and arm in a area were they made the young one work in a cave.
They were using non citizen as slave for them the agents set up the crew and they work in small town and work for them the people in town did not know what happen.
I was summon to the church and the priest was there to talk to the priest and then i was to see what they wanted i walk in careful and i do not know what they can do if you get my vibe the minister want her to help them with the mules and the sex slave they said they are kidnapping young kids.
The Priest want to form a crew to help rescue the kids and family that have been kidnapped who would be doing work that they are not getting payed like begging or solicitation the group is having meeting and i am going to rescues 2 little girls with pretty party dress on and then i am going to kill him. I am going to tell you the vamps are good one in this book and they are not hurting them You will in joy the book and audio
i received the audio and i am going to tell you it great audio book
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
Metta is a she-vamp. Her family thinks of her as ditzy and of basic intelligence. Her main goal in life according to them is to marry. Metta is much smarter then they think though and is nothing like she projects.
Metta is brought into Orcus, an organization that trains it's agents well. They are smart and deadly. They are basically assassins that work for the good of the vampire world. The founders of Orcus do not have a high opinion of women either so their training is more brutal then the men.
When Metta's mother dies, she re-signs and returns home to care for her younger brother. She leaves behind Lucas, her mentor/trainer. He is more to her as she is to him.
Metta had been bored and lonely since her youngest brother has come to age. He doesn't need her. She is approached by a group of religious leaders to help them. It seems a ring that is abducting women and children, and are then selling them on the black market. The religious leaders know this because these are parishioners of the various churches. She is loving the challenge.
Almost a hundred years later Lucas returns to her life. He has been ordered to bring her back to Orcus. At first he just follows her, as he knows she is doing something dangerous. He even aids her a time or two, but she doesn't know this.
Around this time, a very dangerous enemy has escaped prison and all her family must be kept safe until he is re-captured. This does not stop Metta from her mission and keeps Lucas busy!
Will Metta and her family be safe from their enemy? Will Metta and Lucas finally talk?
I have to say that this was a strange book. I liked it but don't honestly think I would buy it.
Metta and Lucas' lives have basically stopped from when they left one another. They both thought the other would come back or get in touch but neither did. Both have many pent up feelings that need to be worked out. There are things that happened to affect both of their lives and they need to get through this. Others see the spark between them of course, but it will take time for them to resolve issues.
I like them as a couple. They are both smart, strong and good people. Wrongs were done to both of them by Orcus. Metta needs to deal with some of those physical reprcussions and Lucas needs to deal with guilt of what was done to her without his knowledge.
I think the best in this book is the group of religious men Metta has been helping. They love their community and her! They are so funny though and I just love the blood bank scene!!
Meta Blautsauger is a vampire who was an agent for Orcus, the Nosferatu shadow agency. Nearly a century ago, after her mother had died, she resigned her position to raise her baby brother... Since then she has become bored and accepted a request for help made by local priests to take out a human trafficking ring preying on children. Little did she know that she would draw the attention of Orcus and former mentor Lucas. Lucas O’Cuinn is an agent for Orcus. He first saw the potential in Meta years ago and became her mentor. When she had to leave after her mother’s death to take care of her brother, he was crushed when she did not return. The leader of Orcus requests that Meta be reactivated as an agent. Lucas jumps at the idea, thinking he can use the time to convince Meta that they belong together. Recently an enemy of Orcus has escaped and they need all hands on deck, including retired agents like Meta. Meanwhile Meta has been working to dismantle a human trafficking ring and if caught killing mortals, could be branded rogue and killed. Lucas recognizes the calling card that she leaves at the kills and shadows Meta, hoping she is not a rogue. Will Lucas realize what is going on in time to save her after she bites off more than she can chew? This was an exciting read. It had some suspense, action, the right touch of humor, and a sizzling chemistry between Meta and Lucas. The characters were skillfully drawn and easily relatable. I especially loved the comic relief the “merry ministers” added to the story. This is the third book in the series. It can be enjoyed by itself without having read the previous books, but I would think reading them would lend some more color and understanding to the happenings in this one.
I received a ARC from R. E. Mullins for an honest review via lop.
Not sure how I feel about this book. It's not what I was expecting but it was not bad either.
Metta is a she-vamp who's family see as a weak little female to be protected till she can be wed. Metta has other ideas. She's a fighter and a woman in her own right. Metta joins Orcus (the vampire secret service as i liked to think of them.) Training is brutal more so because she is female. But Metta is not a she-vamp to underestimate. After going out on an unsanctioned mission she get captured. Metta leaves the Orcus and goes rogue working with her Holy men saving children from human traffickers.
Lucas was Mettas field master. He was responsible for what happened to her until one day he finds her strung up, whipped and comatose. Lucas can not understand the reason for her state. After nursing her back to health she leaves him. For almost 100 years he has left her alone but a spate of suspicious deaths sends him after her once again. Lucas is questioning his loyalty to Orcus. Something is not right and he knows it has something to do with Metta.
The story would flash back to when Luke and Metta first met a hundred years before. Although it was well done I felt there was to much of it. I wanted the here and now story. It was there but I kept getting lost in the flashbacks. The story would have been better with less is more.
The romance was lacking/weak but the story was good. The sex scene was so small I actually said "huh was that it?". It would have been better without it tbh.
Although this can be read as a stand alone I would recommend reading the previous releases first. It will give you a better understanding the characters who are in this release.
I have read the other releases but its been a while and I really should have refreshed first.
I was given a free ebook version of the book from the author, in exchange for an honest review, via the Goodreads group Lovers of Paranormal.
Another good read from R.E. Mullins. This book focuses on Metta, the younger female of the family. Her family see her as the errand girl and the ditzy one of the family. But little do they know about Mettas secret past, working for an agency called Orcus and being the complete opposite of what her family believes her to be.
I really enjoyed seeing a different side to Metta. She gave up a lot of herself to look after her younger brother and fells at a loss now that he has grown up and doesn't rely in her so much. But she ends up fighting for justice yet again and putting herself at risk again, unbeknownst to her family. She is very honest with herself that she has helped create the image her family has of her, but doesn't seem to know how to earn her true place and identity within the family.
I did struggle with the book to start with, as there were a lot of flashbacks at the start and not enough present. Whilst it was relevant, I think it would of been best to introduce the flashbacks a bit further in. But I'm glad I carried on and soon got stuck in.
All in all, another great book in a series I have been privileged to read. My only complaint is that there is only one more book to come. I want more!
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. You don't expect a vampire to work with the local religious leaders to stop a trafficking ring that preys on immigrants. There were some really funny moments in the story. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
Metta is around 200 years old. She has kept a lot of secrets from her family about her work as an assassin almost 100 years ago. They think she is weak and needs to be treated with care and it drives her crazy. She had left the danger to raise her younger brother but he is all grown and she is left without anything but housekeeping duties until the local religious leaders ask for her help. She is also getting revisited by the past in the form of her former trainer Luke.
Luke and Metta have a difficult past with a lot of unresolved feelings. When they are brought back together, it stirs up those passions. There is a lot of focus on sharing their past experiences and I wish we had more time to see them together in the story in the current time period. There are some really interesting dynamics to their relationship. The author incorporates a lot of information on how women have been treated over the centuries as well as many biblical references which were interesting.
R. E. is an excellent author. She has a pleasant writing style that draws you into her story. The story is full of action, some romance and has a unique plot that I haven't seen so far, always a huge plus. The pace of the book is perfect and I never felt like I was rushed, nor did she drag things out.
Metta is an incredible heroine. She is strong, yet has flaws, but never hesitates to help the ones in need. Metta is an extremely likable character and makes for a great heroine. Her counter Luke matches her step by step. He is very likable as well and adds beautifully to the story. There are a lot of other characters I like, and I now feel that the others have their story told in other books of the series, which I will pick up in the near future.
I am happy that even this is a series, each book can be read on its own, since I haven't read any of the others and never felt like I was missing something that was explained or happened in one of the others.
I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)
I give this book 3.5 stars. This is the third book in the Blautsaugers of Amber Heights series. There is violence and sex. This is a standalone book but has an open ending for future books in the series. Even though this is a standalone, it helps if you have read the first two books since it involves many of the same characters.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. There's a lot going on in the storyline from multiple characters. This book is about Metta and Luke. While Metta was in the other two books, she had more of a minor role and not much is known about her. In this book we learn a lot more about Metta's life outside the Blaughtsauger family before her mother died.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more about the Blautsauger family in the next book. I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
This was great. Watching Metta come into her own is an utter delight. Once again RE Mullins has delivered a strong but flawed female character who can handle herself and does not need a man to rescue her. She can slay the dragons herself!
One of the most enjoyable things about this series of books, is funnily enough, the men. Although frustrated with their women at times, they also derive great pleasure in being outsmarted and outgunned by them. One of the most enjoyable things for me about these books are that there is an actual story, they're not just love stories. Once again there are hints about future books, at least I hope they're hints. Because I'm dying to know how Michaela became so screwed up. Well, apart from the obvious.
I received a ARC from R. E. Mullins for an honest review
Finally I got to know the history of Metta. I have been waiting for this and the story evolved in a different way than i expected. Through the first two books she seemed sweet and innocent but beneath the surface she is different than how her family portrays her. She has a unknown depth to her personality that don´t shine through in the first two books.
This is a really deep and nice story about Metta that I read at 24 hours. It was wonderful to see her standing alone without her siblings, she was a finally a separate person! Definitively a book I'm going to read again.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for the free ARC for my honest review.
I have not read any of the previous books in this series-so I knew up front that I was taking a chance, but the story sounded interesting. This is probably not a truly stand alone book-but close. The one thing that I disliked was the amount of flashbacks-i felt it was a distraction. Regardless, i thought that Metta was a great character and the story was unique and interesting. Luke was fun as well. Overall a great read-I will probably go back and read the previous two stories. I would highly recommend this book. Enjoy
**Please note that I received this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review**
I had a hard time getting into this book. Once I was able to get into the book it did get better. I liked how the she-vamps interacted together. They were not blood-related but would do anything to protect each other. The preachers were a bit of a surprise. They knew Metta was a vampire and didn't care. They treated her like a person instead of passing judgement. In most books or movies, the preachers wouldn't treat a vampire like that.
Will I read another book in the series? Probably. The 2nd half of the book was interesting enough that I would give the author another look.
This is an action/love/do-gooder story. Metta a fiesty vampire who after one mission gone bad left the organization that trained her, leaving the love of her life Lucas. Now after 97 yrs she is wanted back and Lucas is to return her to the fold. Lucas finds that she is busy helping immigrants escape from slavers. We spend most of the time remembering how she fell in love in a time of corsets . It is so well written that I felt like I was watching it in person. I want to read the full line from this author. I must say that I'may very glad to have gotten this book in exchange for an honest review.
* I received this book as a giveaway from Goodreads and R.E. Mullins* I found this book hard to get into at the start but once I got into the flow I really enjoyed it. You wouldn't know that this was the third book as it stands well on its own with enough detail for me to understand the characters. The characters are easy to like and follow along with. The story flows smoothly, and it's easy to forget the world and read away.
With all the vampire books out there it's hard to find one that stands out from the others. I think this one does, I really enjoyed the characters and the struggle of the females to stand break out of the old fashioned stereotype that they're weak... Even she-vamps! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a supernatural action plot.
Very well written, I love the whole concept of living for hundreds of years as a real bad ass, it has to appeal to almost everyone that reads it. And of course the author has quite an imagination when it comes to the quite steamy love scenes. I have to give this book a thumbs up for originality.
