An excellent read on a murder case that provoked outrage from both sides: How dare this man barge into an apartment full of sleeping people and kill everyone inside because he disagreed with his daughter's lifestyle!? How dare they prosecute a father trying to protect his family!? The book was a little disorienting until I realized they were trying to protect privacy by changing names and details -- they didn't do a very good job. They left all the Detroit landmarks and so on in place, but tried to say it all happened in Pittsburgh. Once that was clear in my mind the book was more enjoyable and intriguing. You will hate this book if you dislike trial transcript and court paperwork; but the psychology of the case, the politics of it and the sheer ugliness of the murders kept me turning the pages.
