I just completed “The Master Secrets of Prayer” by Cameron V. Thompson. This volume is brief but packed with Scripture and helpful devotional thoughts on the topic of prayer.
The strength of this book is its reliance on Scripture. Instead of waxing philosophical, Thomson relies on God’s wisdom as presented in God’s Word. That, of course, makes this a powerful little book—one that can be easily read in an afternoon.
Thompson’s long list of quotations about prayer was also useful. Obliviously, the author was a lifelong student of prayer in both theory and practice. As one reads this book, it has the feeling of a gentle session of pastoral counseling provided by one who has calluses on his knees.
This would be an easy book to overlook because of its brevity and simplicity. But passing up this fine work would be a sad mistake. Happy reading!
Great source of wisdom, many references to Bible verses and real examples of how God can use us through prayer. It makes you realize the importance of prayer. I was determined to pray regularly and it helped me a lot.
