Presents the life of Michele Hoskins, an African American businesswoman who overcame physical and financial hardship to become the successful owner of a multimillion-dollar food company.
I believe that The Universe led me to this book. I had done several Google searches, trying to find books written by women and African American women entrepreneurs with little luck. I know they are out there, but it seems as though they are hard to find. I was at the library with a list full of books that I'd found about business start-up but the majority of those were written by men or women whose circumstances were completely different from my own.
Michele Hoskins took a generations-old family syrup recipe, created by her great great, great grandmother-who was a slave, and turned it into a multi-million dollar business. But here's the best part about her story: She started from nothing! She was going through a divorce and faced with the challenge of supporting her three daughters-with nothing but the family's recipe. As I read her story, I became re-energized on the days I needed it most. I thought: If she can make it with nothing, then surely I can do it too!
This is an amazing story-I am so glad I found it and read it. More importantly, I am glad Michele shared her story-the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Very Inspiring book on the journey of a single mother and african american woman who started and struggled to become the business owner of Michele's Foods. Here is one of her Success Ingredient--- "Watch out for the limitations you put on yourself--they can be just as confining as the ones other people put on you.
