I chose the book entitled “Free Spirit” by Pippa Funnell who was inspired by horses when she was a young girl. I wanted to read this book because I like horses, and I was interested in learning more about them. This book is an example of realistic fiction. The author wrote the story based on her knowledge of horses. This book is very interesting for people who like and ride horses as it tells you a lot about these great animals.

The story takes place on a farm called Silver Shoe in America. Some things also happen in a stable on a horse competition site. The main characters are Angela, Tilly, Brook and Chief Four Paws. Angela is the owner of the Silver Shoe horse farm. She takes part in the competition with the horse called Pride and Joy. Tilly is a girl that goes to the Silver Shoe Farm in order to practice horse riding. Brook is Tilly’s brother. Brook and Tilly really want to see Chief. Angela, Tilly and Brook go together to the competition in which Angela takes part. Tilly and Brook meet with Chief Four Paws there. He tells them about his special horse which is a mustang named Free Spirit. Tilly feels a connection between her and Free Spirit. Chief also tells Tilly about her birth mum.

I enjoyed this book. It was interesting and exciting because I love horses and I like learning more about them. I liked the plot which was easy to follow. The book made me feel happy at the end. The characters were joyful and seemed real. I could understand the characters well because I share their love for horses. I would recommend the book to my friends because it is about a relationship between horses and people. The book tells us about the different ways in which people and horses can relate to each other. I think children aged 12-14 would enjoy reading this book. My rating of this book is 9 out of 10.
