I'm Mad Margaret, and I'm not really mad, I'm just crazy about science! When a friend tells me he has a sneezing problem, I help him use the scientific method to solve it. I'm no Einstein, but I can tell you all about the scientific method!
Great short story, which helps teach in a fun way about The Scientific Method that our 8 year old 4th grader is currently learning for his Science class.
The illustrations in this book were like watching a Sunday morning cartoon, no real depth of emotion, I didn't enjoy that aspect of the book, however, I could see that the author was trying to appeal to the older elementary child. In this book, Mad Margaret is a young girl who loves science. Her friends come to her when they have questions and need her help. In this story, a friend of her is sneezing a lot when he visits one of his friends and he asks Margaret to him him figure out what is causing his persistent sneezing. Maragaret walked the reader through the steps involved in using the "scientific method" to determine what is causing the sneezing. I think this book is an EXCELLENT choice when introducing this topic (grades 3-5) and children will be able to visualize the steps by recalling what happens in this story!
A colorful and well thought out explanation for the Scientific Method. Doesn't bog down in too much detail and breaks the information up into manageable chunks and uses a real world example.
