I read this because I kept seeing it (or rather, the longer work that it's an abridgement of) cited in other things that I read. I'm not sure if I agree with everything—the concepts are interesting, but I feel like Rabbi Dessler sometimes takes them to a logical extreme. (At one point, even the translator intrudes to question a point, noting that it's contradicting what many other sages have said.) Even then, however, it's always thought-provoking, and leads you to wonder if you just don't want to accept the full implications of Dessler's point. And the insights legitimately are helping me pray and study.
