This Latin introduction is aimed at people looking to study Latin on their own or to refresh their Latin. I'm using it for the latter purpose right now, and I find that it hits a nice medium between the books which are too basic and slow for those who have already done the basic work of learning the language and books which are nothing but grammar. Each chapter begins with a graded reading, and follows it with grammar keyed to that reading. The grammar progresses quickly though, with a distinctively German attention to detail.
People used to English Latin textbooks will find that the noun and verb classes have totally different names in German. (I.e., they're named according to their linguistic grouping by word stem and root, not by schoolbook tradition.) This doesn't make the textbook easier to get through, but it's actually not a bad idea for someone approaching the language again to get a little more detail on how it actually functions.
