Discourse Analysis and the Study of Classroom Language and Literacy Events: A Microethnographic Perspective by Bloome, David, Carter, Stephanie Power, Christian, Beth Mort (2004) Paperback
Provides a microethnographic approach to the discourse analysis of classroom language and literacy events. This type of a social linguistic or social interactionist approach combines attention to how people use language and other systems of communication
It was nice to read about discourse analysis in the classroom setting. I found Bloome et. al to be more accessible than other discourse analysis writers from anthropology, linguistics, or sociology. Probably because of my bias towards the teacher lens.
Extremely helpful and surprisingly enjoyable. I didn't think I was a discourse analysis person, but I think that was based on my experience with SFL, so I am grateful this was an assigned book, because I needed the perspective and knowledge.
