"The Alphabet Code" by Carl England is an intense and gripping installment in the Alphabet Soup Series. This book delves into the lives of Holly and Mark, former members of a covert military team, who find themselves entangled in a dangerous web of secrets and betrayal.

Years ago, Holly and Mark discovered that leaving the team was not an option. Their leader, Tim, had recruited Holly's husband, Tim, to ensure the concealment of a failed mission. Despite surviving Tim's attempt to silence them, the ordeal led to Holly demanding a divorce.

Fast forward seven years, and Tim continues to stalk Holly relentlessly. Despite her efforts to start anew with a new identity, Holly soon realizes that Tim possesses almost unlimited resources and is determined to maintain control over her life.

The story takes a dark turn when Holly is kidnapped and held captive in complete darkness. Tim visits her daily, using food as a means to manipulate her into talking and listening to him. He becomes obsessed with the idea of making her love him again, regardless of the consequences.

As the narrative unfolds, readers will be on the edge of their seats, wondering if Holly will be rescued, if she can find a way to escape her captor, or if she will meet a tragic fate in her captivity. The psychological tension between Holly and Tim intensifies, leaving readers questioning the limits of love and the lengths one would go to gain control over another.

"The Alphabet Code" is a thrilling and suspenseful tale that explores the themes of survival, resilience, and the complexities of relationships. As readers follow Holly's harrowing journey, they will be captivated by the twists and turns, eager to discover the ultimate fate of the characters involved.

I wanted to like this book, but it was not at all what it implied. Although the title speaks of an Alphabet Code, there is little in the book that speaks of this. The summary leads the reader to believe it is about Holly being kidnapped, but most of the book centered around her current husband Mark. Many times the book "wanders" off in discussions of how a coo coo clock is made, and extensively about the troubleshooting of military equipment.
The true roles of Holly and her former team is ambiguous. Are they agents or crypo techs.
The book picks up at the very end, but leaves some questions.
If you have a knowledge of military equipment and terminology, then you are more likely to be able to follow this book and enjoy it.
