Not a bad “reader” but nothing overly interesting in the story or illustrations. I did enjoy the Prince being Persian, the origin or the rose.

Easy books can be pretty lousy, any bibliophiliac parent of an emergent reader knows. This one is not. You can see the archetypal and societal themes. You get the French details. The full emotional value of the story comes through. This is one of the better versions of Beauty and the Beast out there.
