Exciting book, but unfortunately I think a real story wouldn't have had a happy ending. Strong female lead character

I'm aware that humans constantly endanger wildlife, but we also need oil and things. It makes me a fence sitter on these issues.
I liked this book because it was exciting. Plus, most people can agree that killing a creature--poaching--just for the ivory and letting the rest of the creatures go to waste is terrible.
This was an RD condensed novel.
