Join Raccoon on a walk around some of their favourite places. A celebration of life's simple pleasures and the joy of individual experiences. The route map at the end of each book can be used to develop recollection and sequencing skills.
luuuurrrved this book. It gave me such a good idea of fun things to do at the beach when I’m finally able to go. My mom is stressed I’m going to get SUNBURNT so she won’t take me until I’m 6 months old and can wear sunscreen and then it’ll be 9000 degrees in Miami in June so probably won’t go then either. I really loved this book!!!!! My besties Allison and Blair got it for me I love it and love them
Jack borrowed this book from the Oxford Public Library. I picked it because I love raccoons and want him to learn about the beach for when we visit Australia again.
At first, Jack wasn’t into the book. So, I propped it open and left it on the couch. He really liked the page where the raccoon sits in his tent and reads a book at the beach. That tracks.
Although I'm not sure how many titles are in this particular series, I do know that they are helpful in giving youngsters practice in the important literacy skills of recall and sequencing. In this one, Raccoon is at the beach, engaged in various activities and satisfying his curiosity about objects such as shells. The colorful, easy-on-the-eyes illustrations provide visual clues for youngsters whether they're reading this independently or as a lap read. The final pages ask readers to tell what Raccoon did while at the beach.
Enjoyed showing my daughter all the different activities that could be done at the beach. My parents never really took me to the beach but my husband went more often. He said it’s a great way to occupy children for free haha, and so this gives me inspiration for what to have her do. If my daughter weren’t still a baby, the last couple of pages where the book asks the child to recount what Racoon did (with images to jog their memory) seems like it would be a good way to practice recall.
