A true soliloquy is which the character is completely alone on stage either talking to himself, the audience, or on the telephone. It is the difference between "To be or not to be.." and one character reciting a long monologue to another character onstage. True soliloquies are more beneficial for actors to work on because they don't have to worry about creating responses from the other character that is supposed to be in the room with them. If an actor is alone then he or she is alone with the thoughts of his or her character. All soliloquies are taken from full-length plays in print, both classical and contemporary. A must have for the auditioning actor ranging in age from 13 to 70!
