David A. Servant

When David Servant read the results of his high-school vocational aptitude test, he laughed. The results told him that he was best suited for a career in ministry or in entertainment. At the time, David's future goal was to live in a log cabin in the wilderness and live off the land for the rest of his life.

The Lord, however, had different plans for David Servant. God didn't intend for him to run away from the world, but rather to play a part in changing the world--by building God's kingdom. David received his call to ministry during his (reluctant) freshman year at Penn State, and one year later was enrolled in Bible School.

Upon graduation, David and his new bride, Becky, pioneered their first church in David's hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. That was more than thirty years ago.

Over the years, David and Becky Servant pioneered and pastored three churches, all three of which were very missions-oriented. David often traveled internationally to teach in pastors' conferences, during which time he developed numerous ministry friends in scores of developing nations.

When David was serving at his third pastorate, Jesus' words in Matthew 25--the foretelling of the future judgment of the sheep and the goats--caught his heart, and that birthed a transformation in his ministry. Heaven's Family was the result, launched in 2002.

David Servant is the author of eight books, including Forever Rich, and the The Disciple-Making Minister, a 500-page equipping manual that has been translated into more than 20 languages and is being distributed to tens of thousands of pastors.

David and Becky have been married for 32 years. They have three grown children and one grandchild.

This was a very easy to read book that packs a lot of information in it. I liked the way it was written, it wasn't boring as some nonfiction works can be. I think Christians and nonbelievers alike would benefit from giving this book a read. It's one I'd highly recommend.

This book was okay. I think it had a lot of truth, but there were a few times that I questioned what it said. I liked how easy of a read it was, although I did find it repetitive.

The author of this book does a good job of showing how people are selfish people in the world and will try to take advantage of the good will and nature of people and not try to help others out. The author in the first part of the book, the first five (5) chapters, shows how you as a person is a selfish person and that being selfish and not really giving yourself to God can cause you to miss the mark of Heaven and what God has in store for you. These chapters do a great job of showing the reader that by being selfish you will be subjected to God’s judgment and you get what you deserve.
The next set of chapters though gives the reader hope that they can inherit the kingdom of God through faith and repentance. A person must show God that they can be unselfish in life and take God as your personal savior and through his faith and grace of his redeeming blood that you can be saved. The author then takes the time to show the reader that God died on the cross for our sins while showing us what he went through and that we are not worthy to go through what he went through. The author does a great job of clarifying that you must first repent for your sins and then enter the liquid grave to bury the old person in your life and be born anew, being baptized as a new person. The last two chapters of the book focus on where to go next in life after being saved and reborn in Christ and what the future holds if you keep the faith and become an unselfish person.
The author of the book is David S. Kirkwood aka David Servant and his wife, Becky began serving in vocational ministry in 1979, the year they were married. On their journey over the past three decades, they’ve planted and pastored three churches, raised three children, and have ministered all over the world in more than 50 nations. Becky home-schooled all of their kids, so she didn't travel much, when they were younger. But now that they're grown, he’s been blessed to have her with him during some of my travels. David is the founder of the website https://www.heavensfamily.org and continues his ministry through his books. Note: I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest and open review of the book.

I felt that David, the author did a great job in writing this book" Forgive Me for Waiting So Long..." He evidently put in a lot of effort and research, time ,etc. into writing this book that's ver informative and yet very interesting put. I would hope and think that this would help answer a lot of questions that unbelievers
may have. I gave him five stars on account of a well-written book. And for all the reasons that I have already mentioned above. I received this free book to read and then to do reviews for this author. Honest ones ,too! Great job! By Angela L.

RECOMMENDED

This is a good book for every new believer. I particularly liked chapter 1, which addressed the atheists, and also chapter 10 repentance and baptism.

The essence of the gospel, distilled for the modern reader.

In this book, David Servant, condenses the message of the Bible into a palatable, easy read to explain the good news of Jesus' life and salvation to the unbeliever. This book is free and can be given to anyone needing it's hope.

It's a bit dark and in your face for non-believers. But some people need that shock therapy to really get it. Author focused on us being unworthy (which we are not) while not really expounding upon God's Grace. However, it is subtly there.
