Along the Fifty Fathom Line by R A Bard

Rate this book
A hawk, blown far offshore and lost in thick fog, finds respite on a tuna fishing boat. A new deckhand's mind is blown trying to escape a night-time collision with a huge ship. The joy of encounters with porpoises and salmon; the downsides of fish farms and corporate factory fishing; all these topics and more are set to a rolling rhyme and rhythm that's permeated the author's mind over twenty years of fishing along the North Pacific coast.

About the author

R.A. Bard

2 books
Craving adventure, and deciding that chasing salmon around offshore was the best use for his psychology degree, Richard Bard found that work on an ever-changing ocean was all he'd been hoping for. Twenty-five years of challenge and exhilaration along the coasts of Alaska and Washington followed. More recently, using his captain’s license, he has taken up delivering sail and power boats, winding up in places as far-flung as Halifax, Bermuda, Panama, Papeete, Yokohama, and Brisbane.

Throughout, writing has been his second calling---first as a journalist, including two years as West Coast bureau chief for National Fisherman; then as author of full-length books, with three published and more in the works. Working on the ocean, then coming home to produce sea adventure stories for others to enjoy makes for a fine balance.
