Amazing book. I see why they say this is the basic plot of all American fiction.

Another book for English learners. It is a classic but for some unknown reasons I have not read it in my mother toungue. Glad that I now have read it for my English class. It is a fun clever story about a boy who tries to escape his father because his father is a drunkard and wants his money. He also abuses him. So he runs away. He meets Jim, a slave who is also running away because he has heard that his mistress wants to sell him.

I thought that this book was a great short read. I was intrigued and captivated by the style of life huckleberry lived in. This book is about a boy named huckleberry finn who chooses to live around the town, unlike the other kids Huckleberry doesn't go to school. Huckleberry's mother was dead and his father was a drunk head and Huckleberry was afraid of him. Huckleberry talks about how he and Tom caught some bad men, one of the men hated widow named Mrs Douglas and wanted to cut hear face and ears. After they told the judge about the bad people , some men went and caught one of the men and the other escaped and stayed in a cave but soon died. Tom and Huckleberry were rewarded some money each. Miss Douglas took Huckleberry in and let him stay in her house with her sister. Mrs Douglas sister had a slave named Jim, Huckleberry liked Jim. One day Huckleberry was in bed and his dad had returned to town and threatened Huckleberry and that he had to give him the money they found. Huckleberry father took him and locked him in a old cabin in the woods. Huckleberry was trapped forever, one day he found a saw in the cabin and started to saw away at the wall and at night he would hid it behind a wooden cabin. The day Huckleberry sawed through he ran away he went to Jacksons island in the Mississippi river. He there found Mrs Douglas's slave, Jim, now a runaway slave. Because Huckleberry liked Jim he didn't report him.

They found a raft and started paddling down the Mississippi river towards a town that slaves could live free. Along the way they saved two men from bandits claiming, one claiming he was the king of France and they other said he was a duke from England. The men traveled with Huckleberry and Jim each time they reached a town they would do a dirty scam to get money, Huckleberry didn't like this. One day they reached a town and teh to men claimed that they were a dead man's brother and had travelled from England for his funeral and to get his fortune that they left for him. Huckleberry didn't like this so he hid the money in the mans coffin so that the two men wouldn't get the money that wasn't theres. The day after this the dead mans two brothers really turn up and they had an argument. Huckleberry and the two fake brothers ran from the scene without the money. Huckleberry was sad the he had played along with the story and even worse when the had reached the raft the king had sold Jim as a slave to a farm! Huckleberry ran to the farm and tried to save Jim and the farm lady came out and Tom Sayer his friend was with her! Huckleberry was told that he could stay there but the next morning he started his traveling again.

I think this was an ok book even tough I'm not a huge fan of classics. I liked this book because it had lots of stories of adventures and slavory which are interesting to read. There are also some intensity and suspense when Huckleberry try to rescue his friend. Overall, its a good book with a good storyline.

It took me a long time to getting around to reading this book but I'm glad I finally got to it. It's described as an icon of American fiction and I agree with the description. Twain did an amazing job with the dialects and I can see why it took him so long to write such a highly detailed novel.
