Kroll has written numerous children's books since her career started in the mid-80's. Her first book was published in 1992. She started writing when she had her fourth child. Before that, she taught elementary school in Buffalo, NY. She also has written a number of books under the pseudonym Melrose Cooper to mask her tremendous output in so short a time.
Great story that helps children rethink teasing and saying things just because they think they are funny even when its hurtful to others. Read to go along with our virtue study of respect.
This book will really be helpful for children in Elementary schools. They usely start teasing other kids and name calling not knowing how you can really hurt someone's feelings. He thought he was having fun not realizing that his friend was very sad that he kept telling everyone how slow he is. I like the fact that he apologize after he realize how much he was hurting his friend. Great lesson
LE: I will ask the children to draw a picture of how the friend felt before his friend apologize and a picture after his friend apologize and talk about different feelings.
