Coach Tex Winter: Triangle Basketball by Ann Parr is an inspiring tribute to one of basketball’s most innovative minds. From a young boy facing the untimely death of his father, Tex Winter developed values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance that would later define his revolutionary Triangle Offense.

This book goes beyond the X’s and O’s of basketball. It explores Tex’s personal journey his family experiences, challenges, and triumphs and how they shaped his leadership both on and off the court. Richly illustrated with 160 full color pages, including personal notes, photographs, and memorable quotes from Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson, and other legends, the book captures the man behind the game-changing strategy.

Fans of sports, leadership, and personal development alike will find inspiration in Tex Winter’s story. It is a compelling look at how resilience, vision, and teamwork can turn personal tragedy into lasting legacy.

The mastermind behind the most successful offense (The Triangle aka The Triple Post Offense) of the last two dynasties of the NBA (Chicago Bulls & Los Angeles Lakers). Fred 'Tex' Winter's life is on display throughout this informative book as it shares details from every phase of his life. This is a book about a man who devoted his life to the game of basketball (over 60 years of coaching). Since basketball emerged by Dr. James Naismith at the end of the 19th century, Tex has come into contact with all of the most influential personalities and programs the game has ever seen. For example, he met Chuck Taylor in the military BEFORE his shoes became famous. Taylor walked right into the Converse Chicago office and complained of sore feet from basketball. Soon after the shoes were made and Taylor even began selling them out of the trunk of his car. There are stories of his coaching days at Kansas State and all the other programs, which allowed him to coach against all the biggest names of the sport (i.e. John Wooden, Wilt Chamberlain, etc.). While this book was great to understand who legendary coach Phil Jackson's right hand man was, I was a bit disappointed that the actual Triangle offense was not explained as much as I was hoping for. Now I need to buy his book "The Triple Post Offense."
