L’été est enfin là et il est temps pour Ella de prendre une décision : rejoindre le séduisant Noah à Harvard ou partir à Berkley avec Lee, son meilleur ami ? Choisira-t-elle l’amour ou l’amitié ?
I recently read The Kissing Booth 3 by Beth Reekles after finishing the first two books to finish the trilogy. I really liked the drama and relationships in the first two books, so I wanted to see how everything ended before watching the movies. Since I enjoyed the first two books, I expected for this book to also be dramatic and romantic, but I didn't expect it to focus so much on the stress of growing up, especially senior year and making big life decisions. It actually felt way more emotional than I thought it would be, especially because Elle has to figure out what she wants for her future instead of just focusing on her love life, Noah and her best friend, Lee.
One important idea in this book is how hard it is to balance friendships and romance. Elle's decision between going to college with Lee, which they have planned to do for many years, or following Noah to college shows how complicated growing up can be. I liked how the author didn't make it a simple choice for any of the characters. Elle feels pulled in both directions, making her be a more realistic character instead of perfect. Even though sometimes her indecisiveness was frustrating, it also made sense because she is a teenager trying to understand life. The book really shows that change is scary, especially when it means your relationships will also change.
The writing style Reekles uses is very easy to read and feels super natural, like you are inside of Elle's head, seeing her thought process and decisions. Because I had recently finished the other books, it felt very similar. There is definitely a lot of relationship drama, but if you've read the first two books, you would know that. It made me even more curious to watch the movie after reading the books because I wanted to see if they changed the ending, and how they filmed it.
I would recommend this book to high schoolers who like romance and drama, especially if they enjoyed the first two books. The book is perfect for people who enjoy stories on friendship, first love, and understanding the future. However, if the reader doesn't like books that focus mostly on relationships, they might not enjoy it as much. Also if they didn't enjoy the first two books. Overall, I thought it the emotion ending to the series was very well written, and it made me excited to see the movie and compare it.
