Iain Bain writes Mountains and Earth Movements to help children learn about how the Earth moves, even though you can not feel it.

Using pictures ranging everywhere from satellite photos of the Earth from hundreds of thousands of miles away to close up pictures of mountains and volcanoes, Bain gives a perspective of how small we are compared to our world. He explains all about Earth’s movements; how days work, the Earth’s axis, continents shifting over years and everything else you need to know about the environment we live in and how it works.

Although the pictures are intriguing and the information is somewhat fascinating, I ended the book with the same feeling as most of the typical informational books; bored and tired of reading.

Mountains and Earth Movements is a great book for children interested in learning about the subject. However, with all respect to the author and his work, it did not stand out or catch my attention for anything other than the first few photographs.
