I got this one from the second hand book shop, had a feeling i would be a good read...I was not disappointed but I did not expect such plot....when the vet is actually a detective, I kinda liked the wit and the logical sequence of deduction... and the action packed for a small book I did not expect he rolling of events, whenever I think we reached the end of plot, Bam , plot twist we are at it again, a fun entertaining read...and now I know more about race horses too . also it is kind of fun o be reminded how the world was without cellphones.

Picked this up at a second hand shop in Killarney. Pretty decent. May have to scout around for some of his other work.

This is the story of a vet, Frank Samson, who takes a job in the beautiful Connemara countryside. But while he's minding the practice, a priceless stallion leaps to his death, leaving Frank perplexed. Is he the unwitting centre of an ambitious deception? And why are Dublin drug dealers after him? And can he solve the mystery before more than a horse wind up dead?

An excellent mystery. Although it's pretty obvious something odd is goig on, it's written so well that you only find out as Frank does, extending the thrills until the very end of the book.

I must confess - I read this book and I took pleasure in it..
It's a perfect example of good storytelling - compelling and funny.
I must also confess - I'm going to read another book by Rory McCormac!
