I read the 2001 booklet. It’s quite a Bible study with biblical references given every few pages. God expects feminine distinction in appearance, roles and sexual relationship; and expects selective submission from women in following the lead of their husbands, if they’ve got one, and by taking supportive roles in church. God expects spiritual equality in women, equality in honour, worth, nature and in Jesus Christ. God expects strength of character in women, showing the inner glow of grace and compassion, spiritual dignity and serenity. Several woman characters of the Bible were cited as examples of the points that were made. My favourites were Naomi and Ruth. Needless to say, abused women need to seek protection, other shelter, financial aid, counselling and other family support. It might seem that God expects too much of women, but how it works is that God doesn’t ask for anything that he doesn’t freely provide.
