Encourage students to reflect on the processes of thinking, as well as practising thinking skills. Thinking Skills encourages students to reflect on the processes of thinking, as well as developing and practising thinking skills. It is divided into two sections: Critical thinking and Problem solving. As well as giving students a thorough grounding in these areas, the authors provide opportunities for students to analyse and evaluate arguments, analyse numerical and graphical information and develop a range of skills.
I bought this book as preparation for the TSA Exam. I do not know how well it has helped me, but I am confident in the fact that this book has helped me think more critically about statements and problems.
Whilst a lot of it to me just seems a statement of the implicit processes we go by on a day-to-day basis, this is still helpful, actually understanding and acknowledging the process we go through when we construct an argument for example.
It even made me so critical that I started picking flaws in some of the examples and 'solutions' the book gives, where I personally think on 2 occasions they have made assumptions or just incorrect inference.
But overall, brill book to get you thinking, albeit a fairly mundane/task to read :)
