I first read this book when I was in middle school, and it made quite an impression on me, so when I was able to rediscover the title and author, I picked it up through Interlibrary Loan.

It was much shorter and the plot was much more slight than I recalled, which was interesting -- I seem to have fleshed out the book in my mind. There are some marvelous images in it, and it's a pretty cool metaphysical fantasy, but it wasn't quite as good as I remembered.

For a random bookstore find, this was fun! It was a bit iffy on the colonialist using of a fake indigenous culture there for a sec, but turned out alright.
