Patterning? Seriously? The approach in this book seems contrived, like a gimmick designed by either teachers or educators.

Only you can decide if this Idea of Patterning really belong in a series called "Math Concepts Made Simple."

According to author Minta Berry, a pattern is an ordered set of numbers or shapes arranged according to a rule.

From there it's a small leap to think in terms of patterning rules. One can even use creativity to "extend patterns."

Sure enough, the author also encourages young readers to create their own patterns. Then they can recognize these patterns in the world around them.

Maybe. I'll rate this book at FIVE STARS. Not to review like a fuddy-duddy.

Still, I wonder, are these young pattern finders doing things like learning addition and subtraction? Or their times tables?
