This book is not long on technical instruction (perhaps reflecting Malvina Hoffman’s belief that sculpture has to be experienced rather than taught?), but does have several excellent patterns with rough blocking instructions. The section on the use of power tools consists entirely of examples of pieces that other sculptors have created and contains no technical information or recommendations.

very clear instructions. I like the suggested items to use and the how certain stains would not be good. etc. It had knowledge of the subject. Only thing that makes it less is that it is so clearly trying to sell products depicted in the book like the preblocked stone and starter kits, etc.
