Spark children's love of books and reading as they learn each alphabet letter and letter-sound relationships with these multisensory activities, games, and patterns based on favorite books for beginning readers. For each letter you'll find a motivating introductory activity... 10 or more recommended story books... a recipe related to the theme... a music activity... an art activity... and a reproducible research project that builds a basic library skill.
The pros: There are a lot of different programs in this book. Each letter includes boks, recipes, crafts, songs, and activiies to do for each letter. They are set up in a way that makes it easy to pick out what you want to use and leave out what you don't. I also appreciated that several of the letters were "outside the box" picks. It's also a great resource for brainstorming themes, even if you piece them together using other sources in the end.
The cons: This book is really dated. Almost every book suggestion is from the 1980s. While some stand the test of time, many do not. I also thought some of the recipes and crafts were a little too far out, but that's personal preference.
