Iris and Walter can't wait for their class trip to the aquarium. The day is everything they had hoped for--until suddenly, Walter is missing! Good thing Iris knows just what to do.
Iris and Walter take a field to the aquarium, and Iris helps find Walter after he becomes separated from their class.
This easy reader series uses Iris's and Walter's friendship to tackle everyday issues experienced by children, both acknowledging the small struggles that have big impacts and reassuring young readers.
This is a perfect book to read before going on a field trip. It talks about making sure to have a buddy and staying with the group. This was a fun read!
We've enjoyed reading these stories together and we like how they depict situations that our girls can relate to. In fact, our oldest went on a field trip to an aquarium with a picnic lunch in a park afterward and I had the privilege to chaperone on the trip. We reminisced about the experience as we read the story and I love that this book brought back such a fond memory.
Overall, this was a fun book to read aloud and we enjoyed reading it together. We will certainly look for more of the books in this series at our local library.
This book not only can be something students can relate too on a personal level of how to be careful on a field trip, but it also is a great book tool on how to teach kids in retelling a story, that is how I used it in my classroom! (REALISTIC FICTION)
