I chose to pair this nonfiction book about soccer with the fiction book Goof-Off Goalie for many reasons but mainly because both books serve as tools to help someone play the game of soccer. In the nonfiction text, the author includes realistic pictures of the positions commonly known in soccer and how those positions work on the field. The fiction book is about a young boy who is a bit of a class clown, who dreams of being a star soccer player. I think that the nonfiction book really shows just how the game looks on the field and how the positions differ, the fiction story would provide a funny story about how soccer is played but also how a silly kid goes from being the class clown player to a star athlete.
