Teach Social Studies Standards through Engaging Text. Repetitive, predictable story lines and illustrations that match the text provide maximum support to the emergent reader. Engaging stories promote reading comprehension, and easy and fun activities on the inside back covers extend learning. Great for Reading First, Fluency, Vocabulary, Text Comprehension, and ESL/ELL!
This book is a simple book about how Mr. Noisy builds a house. The inside back cover indicates various social studies skills that are addressed in the book. For me, I find the book better suited to teach sentence variety. Each of the sentences in the book begin "Mr. Noisy . . . " and then a verb. Boring. Fourth graders will see that, and I can make the pitch to change the sentences. Perhaps we could re-write the story.
