This memoir pays tribute to the author's "Greatest Generation" dad who had a knack for timely utilizing those cute sayings of the past like "a day late & a dollar short", "follow your heart but take your brain with you" & "how the cow ate the cabbage". It takes you on a trip to yesteryear, during simpler but tough times. Very refreshing in a present age where stress abounds. If you are looking for light, humorous & uplifting read, I recommend "Dad Always Said". There are a few typos, particularly near the end, but I am not one to materially reduce a rating due to this, unless it is widespread.

Bill Hawkins is an incredible man with an amazing wife, and I've heard them both speak on success and leadership many times in front of thousands of people. This is an amazing tribute to his father, who very much reminds me of my grandfather. I've heard quite a few of these quotes before either from him or my own parents. I think if everyone thought more like Bill's father, Grant, this world would be a better place. I highly recommend reading this book!
