It was a good introduction to linguistics I'd say, sometimes it goes over things too quickly or it gives an important concept without completely explaining it. But in general, it seemed to cover the most important parts about linguistics and the style itself was nice to read.
I really liked this book as an introduction to linguistics and all of its sub-fields. It flows really well, is easy to understand, and is concise. I especially liked all of the examples from different languages from around the globe. I feel like I have a much better understanding about the variation of languages. This book makes it clear that linguistics is a rich field with many different areas of study, and does a good job of introducing the reader to each one.
I do wish that some of the topics had been more thorough. There are a lot of topics I find fascinating that didn't seem to be as in depth for some reason. Some of these topics include language change and the evolution of languages, language families, bilingualism, and neurolinguistics.
