The book that was my gateway to the world of computational linguistics! Clear, lucidly presented, easy for beginners, and rather nostalgia-inducing for me.

Got this book for my 24th birthday from my girlfriend. Seems to be tough stuff, but I promise to read it. I really feel I'm missing something if I don't read *something* about statistics. By the way, this book has a really ugly cover! ;)
