I read this for a class. Spanish is hard.

I think the book is an excellent book for learning Spanish. It informs you not only of the actual vocabulary and grammar, but it also informs the reader of cultural differences in Spanish speaking countries

This was a really effective textbook for the class I had to use it for! It's good at explaining concepts and clear about exceptions to language rules.

This has to be the most convoluted textbook I've ever read. The information is given out of order, and a background knowledge in Spanish is basically assumed. (Example: Not presenting Present tense conjugation until page 40 but using fully conjugated sentences -- often without translation -- from page 1.) The layout is also very distracting and adds to the feeling of randomness. This is all very disappointing, especially since the text is required reading in my college class.
