Although I have lived here the majority of my life, I never truly considered myself an Albertan until fairly recently. I picked this book up in an effort to connect to the land, as well as learn more about the wildlife and plants that are found here.
I like the way the book is laid out, separated into sections for mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and insects, then moving on to trees, shrubs, vines, grasses, etc.. It makes for an easy reference guide that the reader can carry with them. Tuck it into your backpack, along with a journal and you're set! The illustrations are really well done, contributed by 9 different artists (the artist credit can be found on page 4, for those interested).
This would make a lovely gift and a welcome addition to a nature enthusiasts bookshelf.
