Staid and straitlaced Michelle Stein has two thoughts fueling her mind... 1. Floor the first man to walk into her antique shop. 2. Throttle her three witch-practicing aunts. They promised her a tiny spell to fix her ridiculous inhibitions, but instead mischievously delivered a full-blown, sanity-squashing lust spell. The temporary curse apparently has no boundaries, either...since the first man who walks through her door is the same man who broke her heart ten years ago. Despite Michelle's vociferous resistance, Sebastian becomes the only man who can appease her unending physical hunger. Thirty, heirless and restless, Sebastian Gray is drawn back home to Cape Town to claim the only girl he ever loved. What he finds in her place is a hotly bewitched erotic seductress. Now with the reparation spell her aunts cast gone awry, Sebastian might be on the losing end of a futile battle against a strength-ascending hex, no matter how hard he tries to keep Michelle satiated, alive...or even just human.

When April Vine approached me with a review request, I was no longer accepting books for review due to the sheer number of books I have yet to read and review. But somehow, the blurb enticed me enough to accept Unbound for review and from the first chapter itself I was drawn into the story that unfolded and I couldn’t have asked for a more fun read than what Unbound provided.

Michelle Stein is in a whole lot of trouble when her adorable and slightly crazy-in-a-good-way aunts who are witches casts a sex spell on her that renders her senseless enough to want to have sex with anything that moves. And during this moment of intense need, in comes Sebastian Gray, the man who walked away from her 10 years ago, breaking her heart in the process.

Sebastian has always wanted Michelle. The fact that whenever he thinks of home he always thinks of Michelle is one reason why Sebastian comes back to his hometown to find whether Michelle is as sweet as he remembers her to be. The Michelle that he encounters is far more enticing and alluring than he imagined and stirs his blood unlike any other woman.

The fact that Michelle Stein is the strait laced type of heroine who always follows the rules who somehow finds herself in a position that makes her do things that are totally unlike her was one aspect of the novel I enjoyed very much. And Sebastian turned out to be just the type of guy that Michelle needs in order to come out of her comfort zone and embrace who she is in reality.

Through a lot of moments that involuntarily made me howl out in laughter mixed up with scorching hot sex that was raw and unadulterated together with tender and loving, I enjoyed Unbound by April Vine and would recommend it to readers who would love a fun as well as scorching hot read that melts you in ALL the right places!

Gosh! Where do I start with this book? I’m not normally used to writing long reviews. And I promise you this won’t be long either. But I still need to convey how brilliant this book is in a few words, so here goes.

Right from page one, this story grabbed my attention and held it to the very end. I started reading it late on Friday night, went to bed, and woke up at 5am on Saturday morning to continue reading it.

Here’s how the story starts:
"Michelle leaped from the floral-embossed Victorian chair, gripped the edge of the walnut desk and dropped her chin to her chest. Labored breaths somersaulted from her mouth. Her heart beat with swift speed. Her skin screamed under a raging fire.
She was having an attack.
Not a panic attack.
A sex attack."

Anyone who knows me well knows I’m a huge fan of first paragraphs that hook. This start grabbed me by the cajones (Well, if I had cajones, they’d have been well and truly clamped. LOL)

The language is compelling, the actions intriguing. I wanted to know why Michelle was having a sex attack and what would happen next. Luckily enough for me, Sebastian Gray walked in. Oh, I loved Sebastian, how I loved him. He is the epitome of the modern day hero. Tall, dark, handsome, honourable and accommodating—boy, was he accommodating. I’m going to read this story again soon just to experience him all over again. *Sighs*

This story also had some noteworthy secondary characters. Michelle’s three loveable kooky meddlesome aunties (who are witches, by the way) and a black cat with a personality disorder made for a very hilarious read. Plus, Sebastian’s two hunky friends also made me think there was a possibility of a series. Please let there be a series. I’d love to read more about those two in their own stories.

This story has no whips or chains in it but still sizzles with eroticism, from start to finish. The author delivered, totally. Just when I thought she would run out of sexual positions to use, she ramps it up a notch. I really have to acknowledge her skill on this note. She wrote a truly erotic novel without kinks. Not many authors manage it. I haven’t learnt that skill yet.

Ultimately, though, this story is about unrequited love, old friends reunited, a struggle to overcome personal demons and unconditional love. These are what made me love this story so much. I believed every emotion felt by the characters as they struggled to come to terms with what was going on. By the end, I certainly believed that they would be having a credible happy future together.

My verdict:
Loved it! Loved it! Love it! A keeper.

My recommendation:
Buy it, read it, keep it.

"Unbound" is a novella-length sex story with possibilities to be something more.
Unfortunately it doesn't really explore the possibilities and settles for sex, and more sex.
Michelle Stein is a witch who, deliberately, doesn't use her powers. She's never gotten over Sebastian Gray, her first love.
Her aunts, witches, take it upon themselves to cast a spell upon her, one that will have her throwing herself at the first man she encounters once it comes into effect.
And, helpful aunts that they are, they've scheduled local butcher Benny, to be the one.
Only it is Sebastian that turns up!
It's time for lots of sex ... but there is a complication, her love for Sebastian prevents the spell from being reversed ... more sex. And, she's, to put it bluntly, constantly horny as hell!
It's hack work, readable but totally unremarkable.

Michelle is shy and doesn’t do things that will get her noticed. Especially since the play she was in at six got her laughed at. Since that day she has promised herself to never admit her witches blood and just be a plain person. Her aunts give her a spell one day just to get her out of her funk. The worst thing is that it’s a lust spell and all and behold it’s the man that broke her heart that comes into her store. Sebastian doesn’t know what he is in for when he walks into Michelle’s shop. He is about to get the sex of a life time.

This was one hot erotic read. To know that the man you loved and broke you heart is the only one that can cure the lust that is going through your system is just a little too much. I don’t know what I would do if I had three witches for aunts. I know that I would love them but I would try to stay away as much as possible so that this wouldn’t happen to me. The thing that I didn’t understand was turning into a wolf. That I thought had nothing to do with being a witch. Other than that this book had a great plot and I enjoyed reading it. I think the part I liked the most was when Michelle was in the sex store and ends up stealing a dildo.

So there were some parts that were pretty funny and some that I just couldn’t believe. I haven’t had the chance to read a book by this author before. I believe I picked a great one to jump into. The ending was pretty good and it makes me wonder if there will be more. I know I have to read and see if the other two friends find the woman for them since they drew straws to see who would take the step first into marriage and children. I will be on the lookout to see if there is anymore.

Well written and yet, boring. I don't know how that's possible, but Ms Vine did it.

More story and less sex would have made this a better read for me. It was one sex scene after another -- boom, boom, boom -- which bored me to death. I understand erotic romance has more sex than a traditional romance, that's fine with me, but there should be story too.

A better development of the story and the characters would have made this a 5-star book. Ms. Vine has true talent, but needs to develop the stories more.

I have to agree with another reviewer that the heroine, Michelle, was quite rude to her aunts and to Sebastian. Like I stated previously, development of the characters, showing that Michelle wasn't really a such a bitch deep down, and felt bad for her rudeness, would have gone a long way in this readers opinion.

LOL I sucked this down in one meaty bite.
What a fun and wild ride. The three aunts are hilarious and all the trouble Sebastian (SWOON AT THE NAME--mama!) and Glitterbug (NO swooning here.Grr.) get into makes for a romping fun ride.

Literally.

There's a LOT of romping. In every which way.

It was a quick and fun read with a side of serious at tiny intervals.

I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

2.5 stars.
All I could really remember of this book from the first time I read it, was that it was quite a fun read.
This time round I found the first 70% of the book kind of fun and a hot read but around the 75% mark it just kind of lost the plot for me and took off on the "heroine is a bit too stupid to live" tangent.
Not a complete loss of a read but starts hot and sexy fun magic then just gets a little silly.

As with all April Vine's books, this is a pacy, sensationally hot read that will keep you hooked and turning the pages. What I particularly enjoyed was that the sex scenes were beautifully interwoven with a winning story and immensely likable characters. I can't wait to read this author's next book.

Well, this smacked to me of force - a sex curse that makes you crave sex to the point of pain....sure we guessed she still loved him and to get the plot going it was necessary but if it had been a longer book, with more grovelling and consequences then I would've forgiven it but in the shortness of the tale I just didn't like it. I felt a bit icky and slimy so not for me.

This was a fast-moving, unique and very sexy read. And what an unusual twist towards the end of the book. I would classify it as a contemporary/paranormal erotic romance. The characters were lovely, especially Sebastian. I was definitely surprised by the way the story turned and I liked that shock factor. A fascinating read with skillfully crafted sex scenes that blew my mind.

This is an erotic romance with some twilight elements. It is a must read for those who like their romance hot with a twist of witches and warlocks. Enjoyed the book tremendously.

Good read!

Would recommend for a good read. Short book for quick reading. It's not the 50 Shades, but it's a good book.
