Vistas: Artists on the Canadian Pacific Railway showcases artwork and photographs from a major travelling exhibition organized by the Glenbow Museum. This publication contains stunning reproductions of over 55 paintings, 60 photographs, engravings and maps, tracing the path of the Canadian Pacific Railway from the prairies to the west coast.
The artists featured participated in the CPR's artists' pass program, the brainchild of William Van Horne, manager of the CPR and an artist in his own right. A visual and written account of the major stops and vistas seen along the railway from Calgary to Victoria also gives readers an appreciation of the western Canadian landscape as it existed in the mid-1880s to the early 1900s.
