This book is exactly what I needed. Essays around revolutionary French 20C playwrights that internationally influenced the theatre world. Iran's theatre was (and still is) pretty much in the continuation of this way started back in France in 20c century. (That's why I will always stay in love with Iran's theatre world. )
The essays are of adequate length, well-written and the arguments are easy to follow. Recommended.
I have kept a copy of this book mostly for its chapter on Jean Cocteau, who is one of my favorite authors. Other playwrights who are discussed in this book (and whose names are likely to be familiar to the general reader) include Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, Eugène Ionesco and Samuel Beckett.
