Living in the Himalaya is an excellent book in a series called World Cultures published by Raintree. The book has tons of pictures and great information for any research project or the curious mind. What I especially like about this book is that it portrays the Sherpa people in a culturally sensitive and modern way. It does a nice job of contrasting traditional and modern culture for the reader. In addition, the end also contains a 10 question quiz and a complete glossary of terms. I would definitely use this book series in a classroom environment and have already purchased the entire set for our Media Center.
