Pig Detectives

by Rosie Albright

Pigs have the unfortunate reputation of being overweight layabouts who spend their days in mud puddles. In reality, pigs are very intelligent animals who use their incredible sense of smell to help people. In fact, pigs have been put to work for centuries sniffing out truffles, and today they are also used to sniff out bombs and drugs. The many contributions of these sleuthing swine are covered in this fact-filled book that provides early readers with valuable information and tools for building vocabulary.

I loved this simple book about pigs. I wish there had been nonfiction texts like this when I was a first grader. I think I probably would have loved reading about our natural world.
