Boxer's Bible of Counterpunching: The Killer Response to Any Attack

Rate this book
All the tools necessary to build a powerful defensive base for boxing—every defense for every punch from every angle—are included in this manual. Punching prowess has become equated with boxing, but what is done in response to that incoming flurry makes a truly good how to make an opponent miss, how to easily defend, and, most importantly, how to counterattack. Building on that defensive base, this book explores natural punching triggers, or logical counterpunching sequences, that move past the beginner’s realm of being a mere puncher into the upper echelons of crafty counter boxing. With encyclopedic boxing defensive drills bolstered by numerous illustrative photographs, this is a one-stop resource for learning the art of counterpunching.

Solid discussion of boxing defense and the reactions that should follow, but it's a little light on the theory of application and timing. Think the book would have benefited from a chapter on timing/pacing and a chapter on training drills/exercises. Otherwise, a good catalog of responses.

All the photos used southpaw boxers, slightly confusing and made the read not so enjoyable. Decent content albeit low in volume, gets repetitive. Doesn’t explain enough on how to counter punch, how to practice the moves and all. I’m a pro boxer 5-0 while writing this , still picked up a few tips and advice. Actually enjoyed his other book, 10 commandments of boxing better. Still a good read.
