Norodom Sihanouk was a member of the House of Norodom who led Cambodia as King (1941–1955; 1993–2004), Chief of State (1960–1970; 1993), and Prime Minister (1955–1960).
More a collection of memoirs from Sihanouk's early years to 1990 - interesting, but, like the man himself, rather rambling and repetitive; much name-dropping of prominent friends. In this volume Sihanouk is fixated first by the conspiracy and Lon Nol coup, then on the struggle - not to free Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge - but to put together a front, including the KR, against the Vietnamese (who had!) In this volume he has little to say about his time with the KR - perhaps that is in another book. It's amazing to me that Sihanouk puts resistance to the Vietnamese above seeking justice for his five children and 14 grandchildren, and perhaps the million other Cambodian victims of the KR tyranny.
