Cara Colter was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, surrounded by ranches, but she was always a reluctant city girl. A journalism graduate, she has been making her living with words for her entire adult life. Before published her first romance novel in 1987, she wrote educational materials, newspaper stories, magazine articles and even sermons!

"I am living proof that dreams come true," Cara says. "I am an ordinary person leading an extraordinary life."

Now she lives on a small acreage in British Columbia. She shares her life with her personal hero, Rob, a cat and eight horses. She has three grown children, and already is a granmother.

Very good book. Grace was Rory's best friend's little sister. Rory got out of the military and came home right after Graham was killed in Afghanistan. Graham's last request was that Rory look after Grace. Grace has a pretty positive outlook on life, despite her losses. Rory, on the other hand, is cynical and pessimistic. He tries to protect Grace from some things that he think can go wrong. As they spend time together, he finds that rather than his negativity rubbing off on her, he is finding some sparks of hope in his outlook. When they work together to help a little boy, Grace comes to see the good man underneath the shell, and falls in love with him. But Rory doesn't see himself as being good for her and leaves to protect her. I loved the way that they brought Tucker the joy of being a kid, and hope to his mother. And I especially loved the conclusion, and how Grace got Rory to come back.

This was a sweet, tough, courageous and hopeful book. Definitely more of a chick-flick but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. The characters were soft and hard, tough and scared, and kept me on my mental toes. There were some hard decisions and some truly generous spirits in this book. I loved how this was written, and even though it was mostly a slower flowing book, it really brought home the basic truths of family and love. The little boy was a great addition too. A good read for the mushy-feeling mood and leaves you with a watery smile. Enjoy

I really, really just don't have anything good to say about this book.

The characters were just so contrived I barely could make it to the end. The hero and heroine had zero chemistry between them the entire way through.

And the plot was so laughable...

Onwards and upwards, I guess.
