I picked up this children’s book for the season, and I don’t know. It kind of made me cringe. It tells little kids to look out of their windows so they can see a person going from house to house and window to window, as if that would be a normal, okay, thing. If my child saw someone lurking around looking in windows, I’d hope they wouldn’t think it’s a ‘fun’ character that they should interact with.

The illustrations are good, the story was kind of creepy.

This is the first book that I ever read. My sister Michelle taught me to read using this book.

Jack Frost visits in the Winter. Watch out your window and you will see him! When Winter begins to melt, Jack Frost goes away. But keep watching, next Winter he will visit again!

Here Comes Jack Frost by Peters came before Here Comes Jack Frost by Kohara. Both books are fun and frosty reads during Winter. This book is a little retro in the illustrations, but the text is beautifully simple and repetitive for little listeners and beginning readers. Frost's paintings were full of swirls and curls which is perfect to give movement to the storytime listeners. I did leave out the tapping on your window, because the storytimers were little. I would prefer not to have them frightened.

Theme: Frost/Frozen
Additional themes: Jack Frost, windows, winter, painting
