I thought this book did a good job at teaching the basics of calculus. I was able to pick up many of the concepts from the book and then supplement that with the professor's lectures. It did, however, get too dense at a few points and I had to rely completely on the professor. I think learning Calc from any book would be a challenge, but that this one would be decent for such an attempt.
