RESTful Web Service Architecture

Rate this book
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), the packaging of functionality into interoperable services, is the preferred software architecture for most organizations today. Of popular SOA architectures, those implemented with web services written in the Representational State Transfer (REST) style have increased dramatically during the past decade. Given this popularity, technology decision makers should include RESTful web services in their SOA evaluations. In order to perform an objective analysis of this popular SOA option, software architects must understand RESTful web service characteristics and constraints, and how they compare with other approaches such as SOAP based web services, often times referred to as “WS-*”.
